Begin with Currents and Waves is an interactive work for seven dancers, created in collaboration with choreographer Kristen DeLillo.
The piece utilizes a ceiling mounted iPhone that captures live video and sends it wirelessly a custom motion-tracking program that trigger sound. Sustained sound is achieved when there is constant movement within a trigger area. The room becomes an instrument and the dancers become the musicians.
All of the sounds were created by processing various recordings of the ocean. The piece is ment to abstractly represent different biological and physical events that occur in the depths of the ocean.
